This week was great! There were so
many things that happened, it's crazy. Mission time goes by so fast! Remember
before President Sommerfeldt set me apart he said, " You'll have the
longest days, and shortest weeks." I couldn't comprehend how that could
be, but it's SO true! The weeks are really flying by!
One of the biggest miracles
that happened this week was coming in contact with a less active. His name is
Brother X and before I came, every time Sister Winert and Sister Morones
tried to visit him he wasn't home. Well we were planning this week and Sister
Morones felt like we should try again. So we went, and he was home! He let us
right in, and started telling us about himself. He's been less active for over
20 years. When he got home from his mission, he had a hard time readjusting and
a lot of doubts settled in. He's at a big crossroads in his life because he's
been divorced, and he's trying to figure everything out. He told us he'd been
praying that morning, and then we showed up. It's really humbling to be used by
the Lord to answer someone's prayer. There's not a feeling like it in the
world. It's a testament to me that God does know us, He does love us. He hears
and answers everyone one of our prayers. It was a really powerful lesson. The
spirit was so strong. You can see how he wants to have the happiness that
living the gospel everyday brings. He just needs a little help to get there. We
got to teach him the Restoration and he's made some commitments to change and
come back. :)
I also had my first drop lesson
this week! I really don't like to drop people. :) But sometimes it needs to be
done. Luckily it went well, and our investigator (Y) actually agreed that he
wasn't ready at this time to progress. It's really sad when that happens, but
when it does we can be confident that we've planted a seed and perhaps later in
their life they'll be ready to act on it.
We were also able to commit Z to
baptism! :) :) He said that as he came to know that what we were teaching
him was true he'd be baptized! :) We don't have a date yet, but he's
progressing! He came to church yesterday too! It was great!
:) I'm so excited to keep working with him!
We also had another lesson with X. It went well, but it was also really sad. We found out some
things about X' past, and he has a hard time with them. He believes that
there's a God, but wonders where He is when there are innocent people
suffering. It was heartbreaking to hear. We taught him that God does love us,
and he gives us our agency. Sometimes he lets people make awful choices, and
sometimes good people are hurt because of those choices, but He NEVER leaves
us. X wants to change, but he has a lot of fears. We hope to be able to
help him to progress.
Well, I really can't believe it's been
another week. It all goes by so fast, you have to take advantage of every
moment. I feel like that's what I've been learning a lot of this week.
"Now is a gift, that's why it's called the present."-wise old turtle
in Kung Fu Panda (I can't remember his name :) ) There's no reason why we shouldn't
be happy now! Learn from the past, plan for the future, but live in the
present. We live at such a great and exciting time! There are so many amazing opportunities ahead of us. Take advantage of every good opportunity you can.
Heavenly Father gives us so many. :)
