Well, what a week. I don't even know where to start.
Remember how Sister Riley wasn't feeling well? Well on Thursday we woke up and
her ear was hurting really bad. So we called the Mission Nurse and she told us
to get to an urgent care. We get to urgent care and find out they don't take
her insurance (grrr) so we had to go to another urgent care. There was quite a
wait there, and I felt so bad because Sister Riley really wasn't feeling well.
We finally get in, they tell us that she's got an ear infection and they give
her some antibiotics, ear drops and some other stuff. The Mission Nurse said
that she should be feeling a lot better the next day, so we just went home and
poor Sister Riley basically slept the whole day. The next day we get up and
she's feeling about the same, and she basically slept again all day, and the
next day she felt about the same, and so she basically slept all day...:( Long
story short we're going to visit another doctor today because obviously the
medicine she has isn't working. So yeah, her first week in the field has not
been the funnest. I've felt really bad because there hasn't been much I can do
for her. :( Yesterday Sister Riley insisted on going to church, so we did, but
she was so exhausted by the end of it, she crashed for the rest of the night. I
really hope the doctor today can help her out. Please keep her in your
prayers!!
So obviously it wasn't a typical week, but we were able to
do a few visits before Sister Riley got so sick. I've been trying to keep busy
at home the past few days (not an easy task as a missionary, haha!) I've done
some studying, coloring visuals to use in lessons, marking pamphlets and copies
of the Book of Mormon, and I think I've watched almost every video and mormon
message produced by the church. :) We also called every potential investigator
we had a number for, and invited them to church. It's been a crazy week! I've
been learning a lot about church history since most of the movies that we're
allowed to watch are about the early years of the church. It's been interesting
to learn more about Joseph Smith, and the early Saints. Holy cow, they had so
much faith. I forget how persecuted they were, and how many hardships they went
through. Even though they went through all that they did, they never lost faith
or trust in God. Nothing shook them. Even when it would have seemed that God
had abandoned them they never questioned that He loved them, and they were
willing to go and do whatever was required of them. When our faith is founded
in Christ, there is nothing this world can throw at us that can break that
foundation. It has definitely made me want to be better. :)
Our teaching pool is struggling a little bit. We're going to
have to do some finding as soon as Sister Riley gets feeling better. We know
that there are people here that are waiting for the Gospel! :)
