Come, follow me

Well, this week has been good. It was busy, and great! :) So many things happen in a single day that by the end of the week It's hard to think of what to write about. But here are some great things that happened.

On Tuesday a lot of our plans fell through. We had been very excited because we had a lot of lessons scheduled, but it always seems that on the days you almost have your whole day filled with lessons they all fall through. :) Haha so we went to our back-up plans, which was to visit a potential that the Elders from the previous transfer had found. Her name is X! We had knocked on her door so many times before, at so many different times of day, we were about to give up on trying again. In fact as we were waiting on the doorstep Sister Winert began to say, "You know, I think X might be for future missionaries-" and then the door opened! :) She let us right in and we were able to teach her the Restoration! She is a talker, and she couldn't say enough nice things about the church and the Elders that had helped her move. :) Service really makes a difference, and can open people's hearts to the Gospel. The reason she hadn't answered the door is because she has problems with her lymphnodes (spelling?) and she had been really, really sick. She still is pretty sick, but Heavenly Father led us to her on a good day! She's really hard to meet with, just because of her health, but I believe that she's ready to progress! :) It's wonderful!!

On Wednesday we had another great experience! We were on exchanges with Sister Haupt (who is actually the other Sister Training Leader) and we had received a referral from the Spanish Elders. So we went to go and contact her, and she was there! I love referrals. :) She is an older black lady who loves praising Jesus! She is so, so awesome. :) We weren't able to teach her a full out lesson because her daughter was home, and apparently she doesn't have the best relationship with her daughter. But we were able to talk to her a little bit and set up an appointment for the next day. At that appointment we were able to teach her about the Plan of Salvation, and she really liked it. She said that she felt the spirit when we taught about it. We asked her if she would progress towards baptism, and she said, "I really need to be baptized. Yes, I want to be baptized." So, she will be baptized at the end of August!!!! :) I'm so excited to keep teaching her, we were so blessed to find her!

Something sad happened this week. On Thursday we had an appointment with X and the Y family. We had Stake Coordination right before, and President and Sister Hobbs were there. Sister Hobbs had been trying to come with us to one of our lessons, and we let them know that we had one with X right after the meeting. And they said that they wanted to come! Ah! I was super nervous. Teaching in front of the Mission President and his wife, no big deal! But long story short, the lesson was so powerful. The spirit was so strong. One of the Y boys had his non-member girlfriend over, and she was crying at the end. We were so excited forX, and we challenged him to ask if the Book of Mormon was true. The next day we contacted him to ask if he had been able to pray and read, and he basically told us that he wants to continue in his own religion. We were really sad, but we know that we've planted a seed! One day he'll be ready to continue, he's such a great kid.

This past week we were also able to have another lesson with Brother Z! It was great! We had just gotten out of dinner, and when we checked our phone we saw that he had called a few times. So we called back and he told us that he had been wondering if we might be able to come over that night. Long story short, we ended up going. He told us that he had, had a really spiritual experience that day, and he just wanted us over to have the spirit in his home. It was really humbling. We were able to teach him a lesson, and he at one point he asked very specifically for my testimony and why I was on a mission. I was able to tell him how and why I'd chosen to serve, and how I knew for myself that the church was true. It was a powerful experience. It's not something I'll forget. I'm so happy that we've been able to meet him, and help him come back to church. :)

You might also be wondering about the A family, and well...we haven't been able to meet with them again. But don't worry, we're not giving up on them! I think Heavenly Father is trying our faith. We'll see them again! Hopefully this week! :)

Transfers are also in a week! Can you believe it? I sure can't. Sister Winert is going home in a week! :( I'm going to miss her. A lot. She has been an excellent trainer, and I've learned a lot from her. I'm nervous for what's going to happen, but I'm also really excited. Here's to a new transfer and a fresh start! :) Also, I've been out three months this week! Isn't that crazy? In some ways it seems like I've been out here forever and in other ways it doesn't seem like it's been that long. Crazy!

So yes, this week was full! I feel like I've learned a lot. I feel like I'm coming to know Christ and our Heavenly Father more every day. They are there, and they care about us. They care about the things we do and the efforts we make every day. As I've been meeting so many people on my mission I've realized that God has a greater in hand in my life and the lives of others than I had ever thought of before. He loves us so much, and has a plan for each of us. We just have to be patient and trust in His will and His timing.  I'm so grateful that I get to be a part, even if it's very small, of His great work.
